At Our Chapter
Launched in 2014, the Pune Chapter of SVP India has spent over a decade empowering communities and the environment through engaged philanthropy. Its focus areas include education, disability and inclusion, healthcare, livelihood generation, community development (urban and rural) and climate action.
Over the years, the chapter has celebrated key milestones include the chapter’s 10th anniversary celebration honouring its founding Partners, a disability-focused inclusive run that brought together over 6,000 participants, and Pitch Perfect, an initiative supporting the city’s social entrepreneurs. What makes the chapter special is its commitment to shifting donor mindsets among its partners, nonprofits and even staff members, and getting them to engage with Pune’s wider impact ecosystem.

I joined SVP earlier this year, in the thick of Covid. During the second wave, my husband and I, eager to do something to help, began an initiative we called VaxAll. The purpose was to get as many people vaccinated as quickly as possible to help stave off severe symptoms of Covid and to possibly avoid a third wave. This initiative is what got us thinking more about philanthropy and giving. Joining SVP is our opportunity to both learn about giving and to give - both financially and of our experience. Learning about organizations that have a social context, the perseverance and grit of their founders and the means and methods they have used to make a difference are a terrific learning experience for me. SVP's focus on both teaching and learning from such entities is refreshing and humbling. Most of all, I truly appreciate SVP's mission of awakening the philanthropist in all of us.

I was introduced to SVP in the second week of March 2022, and it has been a tumultuous journey since then. Being exposed to so many luminaries in the field of giving I have been simply drowned in the richness of their ethos and am still imbibing and realizing the enormity of the potential it holds to making a better me. I refrain from naming the individuals in SVP only because so many of them have contributed and are continuing to contribute to the richness in my life in this very short span of 9 months. SVP has most definitely made substantial change in my thinking. It has made me aware of the macro version of the issues involved in the field of charity. It has made me aware that one has to create institutions that can create and sustain and infrastructure that can make changes at the grassroot levels in the very lives of the whole humanity involved. SVP has also awakened in me the consciousness that time is the essence of our moving forward with all our energies to contribute to a better universe because taking others along with us is very important to all of us. I am ever grateful to one and all who have helped me reach to the level that I am in today and am keenly looking forward to continuing the journey further.

What our Partners and Nonprofits say
Soumya Jain

iTeach and SVP started working together 2 years ago and it’s been an insightful and supportive experience. As our first batch of first-generation learners, SVP and iTeach came together to enable them to get their first jobs! The insights from the SVP partners were critical here, and we are continuing to refine our programs basis their advice.
Rati Forbes

Being a part of a network of like-minded individuals always creates a sense of community; where one can learn and share. My best learnings have been listening to a lot to several voices – the leadership of the nonprofit and the personnel who work there, community stakeholders, SVP India Partners as well as the management team.
Rachna Rathi

Over these last five years, as I have deeply engaged with SVP and worked closely with the nonprofit sector, my thought process has completely changed. I now understand the value of giving back to a more significant cause and the impact that it creates when you join hands to work together.
Sujana Krishnamoorthy

What has marked our association with SVP, Pune Chapter has been the monthly dialogue that we have had – which has helped us ideate better especially with challenges. Their approach has been marked by an understanding of the issues we face as a growing organisation and the SVP team has given us very valuable suggestions and feedback.
Radiya Gohil & Mridula Das

SVP has been instrumental in helping us start our Livelihood Skills Training Programme. The motivation and belief that they showed in our work pushed us to develop learning modules for this training keeping in mind the abilities and needs of our students. SVP facilitated a partnership with TATA AutoComp to launch Café DIL- our very own Café.
Abhay and Manjiri Joshi

As founders of a charity, we struggled to fund ourselves for the first 11 years of its existence. Our first encounter with SVP in 2020, came as a magical touch. Today, Maya CARE’s free service for elderly is available in 50 Indian and 4 UK cities, we have completed 14,400 free elderly visits and enabled livelihood for 820 persons with disabilities.
